Overshare: How I Made An Rpg Superstar Top 32 Wondrous Item Before I Played A Single Game Of Pathfinder

Over at RPG Superstar, I noticed that one of the top 32,  Anthony Guillotte, had dropped out.  When I investigated (i.e. followed the forum thread for his item), I discovered the following:

Wow… this was absolutely and totally a shot-in-the-dark entry for me. I played my first Pathfinder session a week after I submitted it; I thought it’d be a fun exercise in learning the rules, and everything I read about Superstar suggested as much to me.

To make the Top 32 (clearly in spite of my newb understanding of everything, much less Superstar) is a shock and a total honor to say the least. I’d hoped to get some great feedback and absolutely did.

That’s pretty amazing.  What’s even more amazing is that he has written up his process in designing Bottled Time in the aptly named article How I Made An Rpg Superstar Top 32 Wondrous Item Before I Played A Single Game Of Pathfinder.  It’s an interesting look at how to go about designing an item, which I think would be useful for anyone designing something for a roleplaying game.  I think you should go have a look!
