Episode 91: Bees and Orcs! BORCS!

With your hosts, Mike and Liz! This week Liz and Mike starts to throw their own spin on Orcs on our brainstorming session! Mike gives us a full update on his One Game a Month update and shows us his work so far and Liz goes into Discrimination in your games and when setting your game in a discriminating time/place in history how she handles it, and exactly what she thinks too.

Geeky Week!

  • Mike has been poorly 🙁

  • Liz had her first game of MAGE! Huzzah!

  • Mike “finished” his March One Game A Month (more info in his section)

  • New Game of Thrones!

  • New Doctor Who!

Mike’s Topic

March’s #1GAM post mortem

Liz’s Topic

This week Liz is talking about Discrimination! More accurately, discrimination in your games. Liz will expand on setting your pieces in the past where things were maybe not so liberal as they are right now. How on earth do you handle that in a game set in these parts of history? Here is what Liz thinks….

Group topic!

More brainstorming!  This time – let’s put a spin on the old classic monster – the Orc! We are going to start throwing some ideas towards this humble but simple fodder-creature and give it a new zest for life, and zest for killing your players!

I’m reminded of another reason for half-orcs from Star Trek: DS9 episode “Trials and Tribble-ations,” where Worf explains that the Klingons from the original series were an attempt to integrate with the humans. The same could be done with half-orcs, if you take Mike’s route of “Throwing stuff in a pot.”
